How IMMO Emerged as a Global Voice for Muslim Minorities

In the heart of Doha, Qatar, a powerful idea quietly took root in the mind of Mr. Muhammed Quthb Babu—an Indian community leader and Petroleum Data Management Specialist. Troubled by the growing challenges faced by Muslim minorities across the world, he envisioned a unifying global platform—one that would amplify marginalized voices, foster solidarity, and champions a just and inclusive future.

He shared this vision with his childhood friend, Dr. Abdullah Bawa, a senior geoscientist based in Japan. Their deep and purposeful conversations, spanning continents and perspectives, laid the intellectual foundation for what would soon become a global organization.

Encouraged by the momentum of these early dialogues, Mr.Quthb sought advice from trusted peers within Qatar, including individuals close to policymaking circles. Their response was clear: formalize the concept by outlining its vision, mission, and strategic framework. Energized by this support, he reached out to respected Muslim political leaders and retired diplomats in India. Their resounding encouragement affirmed the urgency and relevance of the initiative.

Turning next to Sri Lanka, Mr.Quthb was introduced to Mr. Najah Mohamed, a well-known Sri Lankan community leader and activist. A series of impactful meetings followed, involving prominent Muslim figures and senior diplomats who offered their full support.

Determined to take the idea further, Mr.Quthb brought together Dr. Bawa and Mr. Najah in Qatar for discussions with key stakeholders. Together, they advocated for the creation of an independent, international platform to serve Muslim minority communities. During this pivotal moment, they were joined by Dr. Mohammed Jassim Al-Maslamani—a prominent Qatari environmental engineer and influential figure. Deeply moved by the initiative, Dr. Maslamani pledged his support and joined as a co-founder.

From this convergence of vision, commitment, and cross-border solidarity, the International Muslim Minorities Organization (IMMO) was born.

Today, IMMO stands as a living movement, shaped by shared values and a common purpose—dedicated to the dignity, empowerment, and unity of Muslim minorities around the world.
